Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government)

The Catalan government is one of the member institutions of IDIBAPS. Its institutional, political and financial support is essential.

The Catalan Government is one of the four institutions that make up IDIBAPS. Through its Ministry of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise (MIUE), the Catalan Government provides structural funds for the proper functioning of this Biomedical Research Institute. Furthermore, it also contributes important funds to the annual budget through competitive tenders.

Initiatives of particular relevance include:

  • Consolidated research groups
Aid for providing support to the activities of the research groups.
  • Programme contract
The Catalan government grants structural funding to Catalan research centres, which have become an international force in the fields of biomedicine and health sciences. At the beginning of 2009 an allocation of 25 million euros was approved for IDIBAPS.
  • CERCA
A programme promoted by the Catalan Government for grouping, coordinating and giving visibility to the activities of independent research centres that were created in recent years.
