Financial resources
All IDIBAPS scientific output has been possible thanks to the activities of our researchers. However, there is no doubt that this has only been possible due to the aid that this institution has received from official Agencies. The administrative support infrastructure for the research of IDIBAPS, with the capacity to manage and generate resources and recruit technical staff, is the responsibility of the Fundació Clínic for Biomedical Research.
The funds that come from public and private entities are one of the main motors of its research. In 2010, IDIBAPS received over 4 million from the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya) as a contribution for the functioning of the Institute. In addition, revenue from competitive funding represented over 13 million euros. Incomes related to contracts and agreements with private entities was around 1 million euros.
In 2007, IDIBAPS signed framework contract with the Government of Catalonia, with an overall contribution of 30 million euros until 2012 for the proper functioning of the Institute. The contract defines the development of scientific priorities and includes an external evaluation of all research groups to consider their scientific excellence.
Public and private resources for research
The number of projects won by our researchers in public tenders is yet another indicator of the excellent progress made by IDIBAPS. Some of the main public sources of finance are the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Commission (CE), the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN), the Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR), the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States, among many others. There are many different projects of cooperation between the IDIBAPS and those who provide finance for it.
